MagicJack Review

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

You’ve seen it on TV but either haven’t paid attention or thought it was junk. I saw it this morning at my local CVS and decided to give it a try. First, let me say that I am impressed. The second thing I would say is that it is probably the death for Vonage and the like. You won’t pay $29.95 a month, not $19.95 a month but just $19.95 per year. What is even better is that you can lock in 5 years for just $59.95. That’s just $12 per year for free local and long distance calling in the US and Canada.

Installation is a breeze. Just take it out of the package and plug it into a unused USB port. Then connect a regular phone into the other end. The software will automatically load and setting up an account took me less than 5 minutes. You can pick an area code in your area or choose one in your favorite town ie: Las Vegas or Beverly Hills. That’s it and you are calling for free. The reception was as good as my Road Runner telephone service. Do you have any experience with the Magic Jack service? I’d like to know what others think. BTW: It comes with free voice mail.

Coupon Clipping Services

In today’s economy everyone is trying to cut back on spending and save more. One way to cut your expenses is to use coupons. As I explained to my daughter today – “If you couple a sales item with a coupon you can walk out of the store with the item FREE in a lot of cases. It’s like a license to steal”. The art of savings in my opinion is based on the theory that each week stores have what they call a “Loss Leader” which is usually a couple of items at reduced prices to entice you to come to their store. If you can purchase large quantities of these each week then you can fill your entire kitchen over a short amount of time at very little cost.

When you couple sales items then it can be free. That’s the secret. Here is an example: Ms. Dash was on sale at Meijer this past week for $1.99. I had a $1.00 off of two coupon and a meijer coupon for .50 cents. Most stores allow you to stack a manufacturer’s coupon with a store coupon. Meijer also doubles the value under 99 cents. This made each bottle of Ms. Dash totally free.

The bad news first. If you purchase your local paper to get this coupon then you have already spent $1.25 to $2.00 for a .50 cent coupon. The good news: What if you paid 8 cents for the coupon itself? That’s a $1 coupon when doubled for 8 cents. What if you were able to purchase 10 of these coupons at 80 cents? That’s what coupon clipping services allow you to do. Buy only the coupons you want at a fraction of the cost and purchase several to go with sales items. Would you spend .80 cents to reduce your grocery bill by $10? Take a look at a couple of coupon clipping services and give one a try if you agree that the service they provide is a great source to lower your grocery bills.
