I’ve been slipping the past few weeks in College and haven’t completed my homework assignments on time. Today, I left work early and finished an essay that was due my six pm. I don’t want to lose out on five hundred dollars I spent for this class so I had better get in gear and keep going.
I also mowed the lawn this afternoon. I am so out of shape it isn’t funny. My back aches because of all the extra weight I have been carrying. I am setting my sights on a better day tomorrow.

I started out pretty good and everything was going great. Saturday morning I set out to clean the living room and kitchen. I made it through the living room and cleaned everything up. I turned on the radio and was in a mood to drink beer (Which hardly ever happens). I broke down and went to the drive thru and purchased a 12 pack and drank six beers by the afternoon.
That led to a total breakdown in my diet, not to mention the sever hang over I received yesterday. It was a “I’ll never drink again” day. If you have ever said that then you know what I mean. I am still feeling bad both mentally and physically from Saturday. I just can’t do what I did in my twenties anymore.

Today I planted four of my Dill’s Atlantic Giant Pumpkins in containers. They say that it takes 7-10 days to germinate. I’ve been reading a little about Giant Pumpkins from various resources online. One of the key ingredients is to get the right soil PH level, compost and a lot of luck. Although the record Giant Pumpkin is over 1500 lbs I am hoping to get a 200 plus pound pumpkin our first year.
I’ve got an area in my backyard that is really not good for anything else so I think I will turn it into my garden. I think I will have to rent a rotor tiller and till up the garden this week in preparation for planting season.

This year, me and my son are thinking about what to grown in the garden. I have thought about it for several years but this year we are going to grow a giant pumpkin. I wanted to grow one for the Circleville Pumpkin show but found out that I live 28 miles and the rules only allow for 21 miles.
Will we succeed this year? Probably not but it will be fun to try and get outdoors more to enjoy the fresh air not to mention exercise. Keep an eye out as I will keep updates to how it is going.
We are not that educated in the process but picked up a packet of “Dill’s Atlantic Giant”. The packet said that it is common for its seeds to consistently produce 400-500 pound fruit. I didn’t know pumpkin was a fruit?
