Low Fat Or Low Carb

With the birth of my grandson two weeks ago - I went off any kind of diet and could have cared less. Now I am interested in getting back on it over the weekend. My problem is that I am torn between doing a Low Fat versus Low Carb.

What do you think? Which is best for you? I’d like to hear your opinions. Whichever choice I pick I will monitor my blood pressure and you can see if it is working or not. I’ll try and post it tomorrow. I have the new Omron portable blood pressure monitor so I can give you results daily, weekly or monthly.

I had really good luck on low carb. I find it is easier to stick to for myself. I am sure there are people out there who will argue with me, but for me, it’s the best.

I know I personally needed the control of the Atkins Diet afforded me that I wasn’t constantly craving stuff after the first 3 or 4 weeks. The first 4 weeks were tough, but after that it was pretty much clear sailing. My bp dropped through the floor (140/97 to 105/60) on it and the associated exercise. In the end, I think everyone should pick what they can eat long term — if that’s vegetarian or low fat or low carb; it’s the yo-yoing of the different food selection that kept me where I was at for many years.

Well my blood pressure this evening was 162/108 This has been consistent with the past several weeks since I purchased my blood pressure monitor. I know that it is high so let’s see if I can drop it down.

For me, I find that a combo of the two are what works best…I have tried atkins but I can’t lose any weight (since January). Tomorrow I start back on low carb/low fat. I don’t claim to have all of the answers…everyone is different.
